I picked up several Aquarius puzzles recently that I thought would be really fun and would look good framed for my kids’ rooms. A few weeks ago I pulled out the first one which I titled Marvel Superheroes Collage as it does not appear to have any other official title on the box. There was a second puzzle which I also bought that’s got the Marvel Super Villians pictured so I had to differentiate them somehow. I will start that…
My love of Stephen King began long before I became Penny Weiss. I was a young teenager when I picked up my first novel of his called Firestarter. While I enjoyed it, I wasn’t blown away by this author just yet. Next I read Carrie, and liked it quite a bit too. But it wasn’t until I watched the IT miniseries on TV in the late 80s that I truly began to see Stephen King for the genius that he…
From the moment I first laid eyes on this puzzle I knew I had to have it. Not only because it is an adorable Mickey and Minnie Disney themed puzzle, but because the happy couple is pictured touring a country near and dear to my heart – Italy. Randy and I spent the 10 glorious days of our honeymoon visiting these very same areas. We stayed in Pisa one night after visiting the tower….we took a gondola ride in Venice…
Like my blogging friend Stacey has also said, I think I could write a book about this one individual puzzle. So sit back, grab a Pepsi Free or a Tab and some Fiddle Faddle. It’s gonna be a long one! I am a child of the 80’s, and every part of this puzzle brought back a great memory. One of my absolute favorite things to assemble in this puzzle was the Mix Tape in the top right corner. What kid…
Manufacturer: White Mountain Puzzles Name: California: The Golden State Series: None Artist / Photographer: Unknown Piece Count: 1000 Piece Quality: Excellent New / Used: New Fit: Excellent Assembly: I absolutely LOVED this puzzle! It was one I received years ago from a small company called Games 2 Puzzles. I did a review of their website on the blog and they sent me two puzzles which I got to pick out. Of course, being a native Californian, this one was my…
Manufacturer: Trefl Name: St. Peter’s Basilica – Vatican City, Italy Series: None Artist / Photographer: Unknown Piece Count: 1000 Piece Quality: Excellent New / Used: New Fit: Great; very snug Assembly: I was pleasantly shocked when I received this beautiful puzzle from my husband for Christmas a couple of years ago. He NEVER buys me puzzles! Mostly because he would have no idea what I have and don’t have, but I’m sure it’s also because he knows I have way…
This harder than it looks puzzle is finally finished. And after a thankfully short-lived freak out moment over a missing piece, I can put a checkmark on this one and get it glued for Derek’s room. The quality was superb, and I think this one is going to look awesome mounted on his wall. This also means one more thing — Around the World here I come! Woo hoo!!
This 1,000-pc. Buffalo Games puzzle puts up a good fight. It has been way more challenging than I thought it would be initially. The quality of the image and the fit has been top notch, and other than the small, 300 piece Wysockis’ I have done recently, it has been the best Buffalo puzzle I have done. Certainly wayyyy better than the piece quality of the 2000 piece Winterland Fun puzzle I did earlier this year by Aimee Stewart. I…
This snarky collage puzzle of Suzy Toronto artwork makes me smile. I loved doing it, and when I first purchased it at Goodwill, it reminded me of my puzzling friend and fellow blogger, Stacey. She not only loves collages, but is also wild over being able to spell lots of words in her puzzles. So, when I finished this one, I immediately shipped it over to her. It turned out to be an incredibly sentimental one for her so I…
Yesterday I received these two puzzles in the mail from my mom’s favorite online store to buy puzzles — Herschnner’s. These two cute and very country images immediately brought to mind my childhood home in northeastern California. We lived in the country on a 40-acre ranch, and our three-bedroom house had many wall decorations featuring birds, flowers, and other country landscapes. These would have fit perfectly with the decor in the house. Mind you, this was in the early 1980s,…
