Saying Goodbye to a Few Old Friends
I never thought I would see the day that I, of my own freewill, decided to give up one (or more) of my big, mega puzzles. However, recently I discovered after re-organzing my puzzle closet that I have way more than enough puzzles to keep me busy, including three other super mega puzzles (and who knows how many more to come in the future) for the next 50+ years at least.
I lovingly pulled out four of my first big boy purchases and proceeded to prep them for selling on Ebay. I wasn’t sure at first whether or not to sell two of the four as I had worked so hard to get them and wanted them so much at the time I finally found just the right deal for each one. In the end I decided to pull the trigger for the following reasons:
- Three of the four puzzles were older Ravensburgers with the God awful borders around each panel that I have heard over and over again are a nightmare.
- All three were rare enough that I felt I could get a good price for them on Ebay if I found the right buyer.
- I knew based on the complexity of each one that I likely would never finish any of the them.
- Some of my other mega puzzles will satisfy the same spot in my heart that these images would have if I’d kept and done them eventually.
I know, you want to know which ones I sold don’t you? Okay, okay….I’m getting there! Hee hee
All of the puzzles were purchased used, but because I got such good deals on each one, I figured at the time they were good investments in case I ever wanted to sell them in the future. Turns out I was right! Combined I spent just over $100 on all the puzzles and was lucky enough to sell all four for a grand total of about $750! Not a bad profit margin, right?!
Here’s what I sold:

Out of all the puzzles I ever seen I think that the “Historical World Maps” puzzle is the best looking puzzle ever made. The other two 18000 piece puzzles you pulled are not very appealing at all. But that’s just my opinion. :)~
I still love the 4 Historic Maps puzzle. It was definitely one of my favorites images.
If u are still on my blog, take a peek at the 24k Life puzzle or the 42k Around the World. These puzzles, while even larger than MAPS are significantly easier than the 18,000 and other smaller puzzles.
