Tropical Impressions (18,000)

Tropical Impressions (18,000)

Another puzzle that I had on my wish list is crossed off, and I realized that I never added it to the blog…shame, shame, shame!  I got this beauty from someone on Craigslist.  She had done the puzzle herself and was looking to pass it on to another enthusiast – enter, me.  I got it for a great price ($50 including shipping), and am quite happy about it.  It will be quite some time before I get to this one…

Wedding Feast at Cana – 4,000 pieces – Clementoni

Wedding Feast at Cana – 4,000 pieces – Clementoni

Several people in my Big Puzzle Collection group on Flickr decided to try a group project and do the same puzzle at the same time.  We selected the 4,000 piece “Wedding Feast at Cana” puzzle by Clementoni.  A beautiful painting that has been made into several different size puzzles by several manufacturers over the years.  It is by Paolo Veronese, and you can read more about the painting by clicking here. I first saw this painting when Tom over at sexdrugsandjigsawpuzzles…

Flickr Me Happy

Flickr Me Happy

I don’t know why, up until this very moment, I have never shared something that has become a big part of my puzzling life – the Flickr Big Puzzle Group that I belong to! I found this group through Tom of sexdrugsandjigsawpuzzles.com fame, and I have been hooked ever since. Basically it is a group of like minded people (in this case those who love to assemble large jigsaw puzzles) from around the world who come together through this group…

Please pardon the mess!

Please pardon the mess!

Hi everyone! I am currently working on changing the look / feel / layout of the blog. During the process some links and areas may not work exactly right, but don’t worry, I’ll get it fixed shortly. Please bear with me!

New Puzzle Week

New Puzzle Week

This last week I received a couple of puzzles that I found used on Craigslist for a very cheap price.  It turns out that Craigslist is an amazing place to find good deals on puzzles.  You have to do a nationwide search of course as it’s unlikely that you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for if you only search your own local region, but I’ve found that most people are willing to ship their puzzle to you, even when you’re…

Time Flies

Time Flies

Wow!  I can’t believe it’s been a month since I last updated the blog.  It has been super busy around the house, and I honestly haven’t gotten in a good deal of time lately.  Lots of company in and out….Derek, Cole, and I all had strep throat at the same time (THAT was fun!!), and poor Derek also got Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease (really, just a virus not an actual disease).  We’re also in the process of re-doing our…

Section 3 Underway

Section 3 Underway

Section 3 is well underway, even though I have not posted anything recently, I have been getting in some good puzzling time. I got some new “working boards” that are small, but sturdy and have really allowed me to work on the puzzle in the evenings while still spending time with Randy. Good start on the fishies! I just bring up one or two of the small working boards, and a particular bucket of pieces and work in the family…

100 pc. – The Muppets Most Wanted

100 pc. – The Muppets Most Wanted

A few months ago Randy won some sort of “movie goers” gift box from one of the movie studios (don’t recall which one). We just recently got the box and inside was a cute little 100-piece jigsaw puzzle that was the movie poster for the new Muppets movie. Today Derek asked if we could put it together. Of course I never turn down an opportunity to do a puzzle with my little boy so we got it out and started…

3rd Time’s a Charm

3rd Time’s a Charm

So I officially opened the bag for Section #3 and started sorting on April 17th. This is now my 3rd go round with the sorting, and I am finding that as I do each section, the sorting gets easier and faster, and I’m much more detailed with my buckets. I went from about 5 or 6 buckets in Section 1, 12 buckets for Section 2 to 18 or so for Section 3. This time I sorted into the following buckets:…

A Baffledazzle Project

A Baffledazzle Project

This week I was contacted by Baffledazzle about an exciting new puzzling project on Kickstarter.   Baffledazzle puzzles take solvers on an adventure, leading them to discover something new and interesting about the world around us. Their goal is to deliver the feeling of exploration and discovery in a box, and to make visual and tactile information part of the learning experience. Hundreds of wood, acrylic, or felt puzzle pieces start you off. You start to gather clues from the piece…
