DIY Fabric-covered Puzzle Board

DIY Fabric-covered Puzzle Board

THE BACKGROUND STORY Since I started following My Jigsaw Journal and chatting with it’s fab owner, Stacey, I have been envious of the great pictures she takes of her completed puzzles. Her photos are always well centered with the pretty rose colored board acting as a natural border around the puzzle. The best part being the pics are always taken vertically and not flat on the table like the ones I have been producing here. Several weeks ago I started…

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow friends, family, and blog readers. I hope your day is super special and spent with those you love the most! I am spending the day with the three most important people in my life — Randy, Derek and Cole. They are my everything. Unfortunately, I am unable to spend the day with my own mom (though equally as important in my life), but she is not far from my thoughts today and I…

Paws Gone Wild

Paws Gone Wild

If you can possibly look at this puzzle and those little faces and not smile — well then I have to seriously wonder if you’re even human! LOL This puzzle was sooo much fun to put together! Not only was the image adorable, but the quality of the pieces was amazing. Of course, as a small, 100-piece puzzle the pieces were rather large, but that’s to be expected when the biggest “do’er” of this type of puzzle is either young…

Around the World: The U.N. Building

Around the World: The U.N. Building

In the times we currently find ourselves, where a horrendous and deadly virus has already claimed over 60,000 American lives, I take some comfort in assembling aspects of the Around the World puzzle which are not only famous American landmarks, but which also speak to me as a way to unite the world in common cause — freedom with the Statue of Liberty and now the UN Building – a true representation of global peace and hope. I absolutely loved…

Around the World: Shanghai World Financial Center

Around the World: Shanghai World Financial Center

This building is so cool looking I think. Due to its shape and the puzzle artist’s rendering of the color (mostly purple), the pieces really stood out as I was sub-sorting all the skyscrapers. I was excited to build this beautiful piece of architecture and learn a little more about this landmark along the way. I think my favorite part of the architecture is the upside down trapezoid shaped “cutout” way up near the top. This amazing and extremely complex…

I Love the 80’s

I Love the 80’s

Like my blogging friend Stacey has also said, I think I could write a book about this one individual puzzle. So sit back, grab a Pepsi Free or a Tab and some Fiddle Faddle. It’s gonna be a long one! I am a child of the 80’s, and every part of this puzzle brought back a great memory. One of my absolute favorite things to assemble in this puzzle was the Mix Tape in the top right corner. What kid…

Piecing It All Together: A Beginner’s Guide

Piecing It All Together: A Beginner’s Guide

Part One: Image Choice In the years I have been part of the online, social media-based puzzling groups, I have come to discover a common theme.  Beginning level puzzlers often give up on a new hobby they might thoroughly come to love and have an intense passion for because of one simple and easily correctable mistake – they chose the wrong puzzle image to start with as a novice. What do I mean by that you ask?  Well here is…

Around the World: Lady Liberty

Around the World: Lady Liberty

As a child I was fascinated by New York City. I loved the skyscrapers, the chaos, the romantic idea of spending my honeymoon there someday, and the desire to see the iconic Statue of Liberty. I was fascinated by the history, the architectural design, and the emotional draw of Our Lady Liberty. So naturally she was one of the very first elements of the Around the World puzzle I wanted to piece together. Unfortunately, my brain was not thinking too…

Despicable Minions and Those Who Love Them

Despicable Minions and Those Who Love Them

Is it just me or do you also find yourself watching these adorable movies over and over again? Whenever I am flipping through channels and see one of the movies airing, I generally will stop and watch even if it’s just for a few minutes. From the moment I first saw Despicable Me in the movie theater I have been hooked. They are just the cutest little, banana eating, mischevious dudes. They always make me smile. So no big surprise…
