Spongebob Squarepants — Britto Style

For the last handful of years I have loved Romero Britto’s colorful and quirky pop artwork. He creates some of the most beautiful and funky images I have ever seen. A friend of mine first introduced me to him, and I immediately started noticing his artwork everywhere. I have a Britto coffee mug, a spoon rest, and even a little coin purse. I have also seen Britto’s images on a bunch of puzzles, and have always wanted to get one, but always held off due to the lack of quality in the only manufacturer I had seen up to this point producing his images on puzzles — Grow Puzzles.

Grow is a puzzle manufacturer in Brazil and from what I have heard has less than good quality puzzles which would be extremely frustrating since I would want to frame and mount any Britto puzzle (1,000 pieces and higher) I would want to build.

So while on a recent trip to Target, I stumbled upon this gem and did a happy dance as I quickly pulled it from the shelf and dropped it into my cart. Not only a Britto puzzle, but a Britto puzzle not made by Grow. Even better! Now, this particular image is clearly meant for a child because let’s be honest, how many adults still love watching Spongebob?! I know I groan every time my kids want to watch it, but somehow for this particular puzzle artist, it is a perfect choice.

I had more fun assembling this kid themed Britto puzzle than any other children’s puzzle I have ever done. I loved putting in every single piece. So much fun!

Mostly, I hope finding this little jewel means that maybe there will be more adult-themed Britto images released by Buffalo in the near future. Here’s to hoping anyway!
