Knocked out the 3rd puzzle in a row that Randy helped with. Not only did he help, but on this one he did the biggest majority of it because I had to finish getting some new contractor’s set up in my system at work so they can get started soon. So we were in the same room for a good chunk of the weekend, but he was the only one actually working on the puzzle most of that time. We finished the last 100 or so pieces together this morning so that was nice.
If I counted correctly, there are about 43 movies represented on the puzzle image. As I expected, Randy has seen every single one! LOL And only one of those was a movie he’d just seen part of because…well….he’s scared by horror movies! Nightmare on Elm Street which was one of my favorites as a teenager is not his cup of tea. Granted, I wouldn’t really watch them now as a mature (i.e., OLD) adult as they’re just a bit on the stupid side, but I did get great entertainment out of them as a kid for some reason.
For me, I’ve seen at least some part of all but two — Deliverance and the Dirty Harry movie. I’m not even sure which Dirty Harry movie is represented here, but chances are pretty good I haven’t seen it. There are a couple of others like Clockwork Orange that I’ve only seen parts of, and not the entire movie. I am NOT a Stanley Kubrick fan at all. His movies are just weird. I think the only one I have even watched in full is Eyes Wide Shut and that one was weird too, but I got through it somehow.
Of all the movies shown, these are my three favorites:
I remember going to the movie theater to watch Big on the “big” screen. It was a fantastic movie, and as a huge Tom Hanks fan since his early career days on Bosom Buddies, I loved it so much. Back to the Future is still in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I judge how much I love a movie based on the fact that even if it’s a movie I have easily seen 20 – 30 times, I will still sit down and watch it all over again. It’s a timeless (no pun intended) classic on every level and just a ton of fun to watch.
Same thing applies to Grease. I’ve never been a huge fan of musicals and growing up this was about the only one I would watch — and watch it I did. I was a little too young to go see this in the movie theater when it first came out back in 1979 I think it was, but I have watched it over and over and over again on TV. It is in my top 10 of favorite movies of all time and still my favorite musical-based movie.
Do you know immediately, just by the picture what this movie is? We did not, and it was actually not until after we finished the puzzle and Randy looked it up on the internet to see what the featured movies were in this specific puzzle that we found out what it was. I won’t tell you in case you want to try to guess, but leave a comment with your guess (or if you just flat out knew right away), and I’ll confirm in the comments.
This eyeball and all the wrinkled skin around it is kinda creepy looking in my opinion. It freaked me out just a little bit I’m not going to lie. LOL
All in all this puzzle was a ton of fun and pretty easy to put together other than the border which was a complete PITA! More about that border build in the in progress post for this puzzle which you can check out here.
I would highly recommend this puzzle to any movie lover. Most of the movies here are from the late 70s / 80s, but there are a couple of 90’s one thrown in for good measure I guess. LOL My only caution is if you start to fill frustrated by the border, just sent it aside and start with one of the movies on the interior and save the border for later when you have more pieces placed that will link up to it — much easier that way.
