I fairly recently discovered a new to me brand called Delfy. After a little research, I discovered to my delight that it is a new line of puzzles owned by Jacarou. Jacarou makes gorgeous, vivid puzzles full of intense color saturation, and they’re just a joy to build. I think perhaps the Delfy line is mostly AI driven, but to be honest with you that does not bother me at all. I know there’s currently a lot of controversy around AI in puzzles and maybe you’re not a fan either, but to me a gorgeous and colorful image is a gorgeous and colorful image regardless of what medium was used in the design. In my mind, it still takes someone with an eye for graphic design, art, and color to know what to do to get the best result from an AI-generated image. I believe it’s now more of a “team” of IT savvy employees rather than a single individual who manipulates and massages the image the computer spits out into something beautiful.
Regardless, I have fallen head over heels in love with most of the Delfy images and when I ordered my first one (OK maybe it was 7), my only real concern was how would the quality be — as good as Jacarou? Shiny? Matte finish? Loose fitting? Thankfully all of my concerns were quickly alleviated when I started the first Delfy puzzle in my collection — Courage Under Cover.
This image is not only gorgeous, but the fit was fantastic! The pieces were high quality with a matte finish, and I swooned. How can you look at this lovely puzzle and not fall in love with this adorable little dog hiding under the table and blanket. Even the three furry little monsters next to him don’t seem to be making him shiver too much as he feels he’s incognito. I have to say the monsters are more cute than scary and maybe that’s what the pooch ended up realizing too.
The assembly went pretty quickly on this one which was nice. I started with the monsters as they were the easiest to pick out as was the floral pattern of the tablecloth. From there I think I pieced together most of the blanket and saved the four-legged, semi quivering sack of potatoes for last. His eyes were easy to pick out, but the fur was definitely a bit trickier, but not so much as to be daunting.
I had so much fun building this captivating puzzle, and best of all, I was able to get a Stacey stance pic too!
Based on this first one, I have a feeling I will be doing many more Delfy puzzles in the near future. They are definitely my puzzle jam!
