This building is so cool looking I think. Due to its shape and the puzzle artist’s rendering of the color (mostly purple), the pieces really stood out as I was sub-sorting all the skyscrapers. I was excited to build this beautiful piece of architecture and learn a little more about this landmark along the way.
I think my favorite part of the architecture is the upside down trapezoid shaped “cutout” way up near the top. This amazing and extremely complex architectural design has gotten the nickname of the “bottle opener”, and I can certainly see why. The building also features three observation decks which constitute the floors above and below the aperture opening. I can only imagine how breathtaking the views would be from any of these vantage points. Even better yet, what it would be like to build a puzzle up there while overlooking all of Shanghai (and likely some miles beyond).
The Shanghai World Financial Center houses many different businesses including a huge hotel, numerous conference rooms, office space, and even shopping malls on the ground floors.
The Hollywood Link: After doing some research, I have not been able to find a direct link in any major Hollywood movie featuring this cool looking building which is surprising. There was a reference to a Spiderman comic book that had our favorite webbed wonder meeting an enemy on the roof of the building, but even this was hard to completely validate.
I have a feeling while shooting a movie or two in Shanghai, the building has appeared — at least for a second or two as it is such a distinctive and HUGE landmark in Shanghai.
Another interesting tidbit is that the bottom of this building will actually connect (in probably another row or two of pieces at the bottom) to my very first pieces of ATW connected — the roof of The Forbidden City. I cannot wait to make that major connection at some point in the near future.
Won’t this be an awesome connection? I think it will!
Have a great puzzling weekend everyone!
