Today, I ran across some old photos of both my boys and their phases of doing puzzles with me. Derek, my oldest, was really into puzzles and always wanted to help me from age 4 to 5. Now, at age 9.5, he wants nothing to do with them. Hmmm…maybe if there were a video game involving the building a puzzle I could possibly get him interested again. LOL ?
I had higher hopes for my little Colie Molie as he showed a much higher and longer level of interest than his brother. Cole started being interested in baby puzzles from Melissa and Doug at around age 2. He continued to get better and bigger in his puzzlibg attempts and achievements. I was so proud any time he wanted to do a puzzle. It would always make my heart swoon when he said in his cute little boy voice, “Mommy, will you do a puzzle ‘wis’ me?” Who could refuse that? ?
Alas, in the last six months or so though, since Cole turned 6, his interest in puzzles has diminished considerably. He is following down the same path as Derek and would rather watch a You Tube kids video or play a game on Xbox than pull out one of his many kid puzzles.
Ahhh…the passage of time, the maturing of sweet little boys, and the bittersweet feeling of sitting at my puzzle table by myself. *Sigh*
